Joan Migton, President   A retired English teacher, Joan has advocated for people with disabilities through memberships in the Family Support Coalition, the Regional Family Support Planning Council and the Supportive Housing Association of NJ. She regularly attends NJ Council of Developmental Disabilities meetings, state Senate and Assembly budget hearings and the ARC's Disability Policy Seminar in Washington DC.  She attends Liquid Church in Mountainside and volunteers at the Tim Tebow Foundation's Night to Shine prom for people with disabilities. Her daughter, Barbara, lives with the challenges of autism and seizures and resides with her in NJ.

She holds a BS in bioenvironmental engineering from Rutgers and a MS in environmental engineering and science from Johns Hopkins.  She is a member of Toastmasters and a social activist for environmental and civil rights causes.

  Rita Heap, Board of Directors   Rita has been a practitioner of Jin Shin Jyutsu, a hands-on healing technique, for over 30 years. In 1996, she left her full-time job as a textile designer and started a full-time practice in Staten Island, New York. She now practices in New York and New Jersey. Rita has treated people in Europe, Canada, and the Middle East and volunteered at several schools for students with learning disabilities in Dubai.  After 9-11-2001, she served as a volunteer, offering Jin Shin Jyutsu to those involved in search and rescue and gave treatments at the navy port on Staten Island. She also volunteers at a fundraiser for a school in the Catskills. She volunteered her time at Morristown Hospital where she did presentations for the staff.  Rita has been a guest speaker at the New York City Nursing Association, the Wagner College School of Nursing, the Cancer Support group at Staten Island University Hospital, the United Federation of Teachers, and the United Federation of Retired Teachers.

He is currently a senior program manager dealing with multi-discipline engineering design and construction projects. He holds a BS degree in civil engineering from Rutgers, an MS in engineering management from NJIT and a JD from Seton Hall Law School.  Cal and his family are members of the First Baptist Church of Westfield, NJ, where he served on the church council and chaired the facilities and finance committee.  Cal resides in Union County with his wife and three sons. His oldest son, Patrick, has autism.

  Debbie Schlossberg, Board of Directors   Debbie is a social worker with the ALS Association, Greater NY Chapter.  She is the mother of an adult son with developmental disabilities.  Debbie lives in East Brunswick, NJ, with her husband, Shlomo Nessim, and their son, Yoav.

Prior to that she worked for the Bell System for 32 years, retiring as a human resources director for international programs.  Peggy holds a BS degree in marketing, an MBA from Fairleigh Dickinson University and an MS in special education from the New Jersey City University.  She has contributed to the creation of recreational, religious, and reading programs in the disability community. Peggy resides in Somerset County with her husband, two sons, and brother.
